Frequently Asked Questions
The best time to book the Inca Trail depends on your travel schedule. In any case, make sure to book well in advance! For the popular months of May through August, you should book at least 6 to 9 months ahead. For other months, 3–4 months in advance is usually sufficient.
There are 500 tickets available each day. About 200–250 of these are for travelers, with the rest reserved for guides and porters. The Inca Trail is almost always fully booked every day.
The 4-day Inca Trail is generally considered challenging. This is mainly due to the combination of high altitude, the number of kilometers you cover each day, and the steep paths along the way. With a basic level of fitness and some experience in long-distance hiking, the Inca Trail is very manageable.
There can be significant price differences between providers. We maintain fixed prices for all our Trails. These rates are based on fair market compensation for local support staff, such as porters, guides, and cooks. The largest expenses are train transport and entrance tickets (together nearly €250), which are the same for every organization.
In addition, all providers add a margin to cover organizational costs and pay for guides, porters, cooks, and equipment (tents and sleeping mats, which are included with us). You can trust that when you book a trip in Peru through us, the local staff are fairly compensated, and you aren’t paying unnecessary extra costs.
