“Machu Picchu in the distance – a truly special moment. Beforehand, we thought – having seen so many pictures and heard so many stories – that it might not live up to our expectations after our amazing trip. The opposite was true. It is an incredibly impressive place, and you can’t help but wonder how they managed to build it. The descent was a joy, and we also took plenty of time afterward for photos at this magical site.”

FAQ
The best time to visit Machu Picchu is from May to September, when the weather is driest and the views are spectacular.
For visiting Machu Picchu itself, a guide is not mandatory, but highly recommended. With a guide, you’ll gain much more insight into the history, architecture, and spiritual significance of this Inca city.
If you are doing the 2-Day or 4-Day Inca Trail, a guide is required by Peruvian law.
We provide certified guides who speak both Spanish and English. Our guides are experienced locals who ensure you get the most out of your visit — from hidden viewpoints to cultural insights you won’t find in any guidebook.
About 4,500 spread across different time slots and circuits.
You can choose a different time slot or another type of ticket. If these are also sold out, you can select a different date.
If you truly cannot travel on another date, you can try your luck by lining up at the ticket office in Aguas Calientes the day before. Each day, about 1,000 tickets for various circuits are released there.
There are three circuits, each divided into slightly different routes. See the full overview of the available circuits here.
Unfortunately, visiting Machu Picchu is limited to the route/circuit you purchased, which is clearly indicated with signage.
If you purchase a ticket for Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you will also have extra access to the circuit that leads to the entrance of the mountain. Additionally, climbing one of these mountains gives you 4 extra hours to enjoy your visit.
