Frequently Asked Questions
It’s best to bring several layers: it can be cold in the morning, but warm in the Oasis. A long-sleeve shirt that you can easily take off is ideal. One fleece sweater and a light jacket are enough for the cooler moments.
Yes, you can! From Chivay, you can arrange transport with us to Puno for €55 per person. You’ll be taken by minivan, and the trip takes about 5 hours.
On the day of departure, you can usually have lunch at your hotel in Arequipa, as breakfast is often included with your stay. For lunch on Day 1 and Day 3, we stop in a village along the way where you can eat. Dinner at La Casa de Mamayacchi in Coporaque can be ordered directly from the hotel’s menu.
The extra luggage you won’t take to the Colca Canyon Valley can usually be left at your hotel in Arequipa. Hotels are accustomed to multi-day treks where guests need to store their belongings. If you’re returning to Arequipa after the trek, it’s convenient to use the same hotel for drop-off and pick-up. Make sure your clothes are packed in a lockable suitcase or bag.
If you continue your journey to Puno from Chivay after the Trail, you can take your extra luggage with you, and we’ll ensure it is delivered on Day 3 when you travel onward from Chivay.
