FAQ
For the Incas, mountains, springs, rocks, and other natural elements were part of a sacred landscape. Certain places were considered huacas (sacred sites), while important mountains were known as apus (sacred mountains). This gave the landscape along the Inca Trail not only a practical purpose, but also a deep spiritual and religious significance.
And did you know that Machu Picchu was not chosen at random? Its location, surrounded by mountains and natural elements considered sacred, was deeply connected to the spiritual worldview of the Incas. The unique energy and harmony of the landscape may have been one of the reasons this extraordinary place was chosen.
This Trail is at its most special during a full moon and in the dry season. We therefore select the date that best aligns with these conditions, taking into account the exact timing of the full moon in Peru.
In addition to following the route of the classic 4-day Inca Trail, this journey includes guided ceremonies and meditations designed to help you slow down, turn inward, and experience the journey on a deeper, personal level.
One of the highlights is a full moon meditation, as well as Inca-inspired ceremonies to honour Pachamama, Mother Earth, using coca leaves. These rituals invite you to pause, connect with your surroundings, and experience the Andes in a more conscious and meaningful way — inspired by the deep connection with nature that was central to the Andean worldview.
